Perfect Buttercream Frosting

Ideal for putting on top of sugar cookies. The coconut extract adds depth!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 4-6 Tbsp cream
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp coconut extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • gel food coloring if desired

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Using a stand mixer, beat the softened butter with whisk attachment until it is fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add half of the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons cream.
  3. Beat well. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl.
  4. Add the remaining powdered sugar and 2 more tablespoons of cream. Beat well.
  5. Add salt, vanilla, coconut, and almond extracts. Beat well. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl.
  6. Add gel food coloring if you want to tint the frosting. Liquid food coloring can impact consistency.
  7. Add remaining 1-2 tablespoons of cream, if needed.
